Finding an elusive animal isn't easy - especially when it only comes out during the night!Very few people have actually seen this elusive species in the wild, and the number of sightings is decreasing which we believe is due to some troubling reasons: climate change, insecticides, lack of research, and lack of communication between specialists. With the help of some generous local experts who were keen to help showcase this unsung icon of Spain, and a great deal of perseverance, the legendary Spanish moon moth is captured on film in ways never seen before.
Pressing questions are asked to the Wildlife Trusts about conservation work being carried out in the U.K. for a rare species of butterfly. Following this, Lepidoptera Curator at the Natural History Museum (NHM), London, Alessandro Giusti is interviewed to find out whether the NHM could offer any additional information on the Spanish moon moth.
With never-before-seen footage of an insect with a unique tale, watch 'Cocooned, Secrets of the Spanish Moon Moth', a film guaranteed to spark compassion for the smaller animals on our planet which have become largely overlooked through time.
